In its meeting on February 11, 2025, the Assembly of the Zweckverband “Interkommunales Gewerbe- und Industriegebiet Heidelberg-Leimen” (Special Purpose District “Inter-Municipal Commercial and Industrial Area Heidelberg-Leimen”) elected a new managing director. As of April 1, 2025, Markus Foltin will head the Special-Purpose District’s office. His predecessor Horst Althoff, who played a major role in setting up the Special-Purpose District “Inter-Municipal Commercial and Industrial Area Heidelberg-Leimen”, founded in 2021, will retire on April 1, 2025.

Markus Foltin previously worked for the Office of City Development and Statistics of the City of Heidelberg and has extensive experience in urban and regional development. With a degree in urban planning and as former Director of the Building Office of the City of Schriesheim, he is well acquainted with the opportunities and challenges of urban development on a municipal level.

In the future, the Special-Purpose District’s focus will be on further developing planning for its territory and implementing first actions. “In Mr. Foltin we have found an experienced and competent successor. We are confident, he will continue the successful cooperation of both cities within the Special-Purpose District,” emphasized John Ehret, Mayor of Leimen and President of the Special-Purpose District. “I wish him good luck and success with his new task.”

On behalf of the Special-Purpose District, Mr. Ehret, Mayor of Leimen and President of the Special-Purpose District, and Mr. Odszuck, First Deputy Mayor of Heidelberg and Vice-President of the Special-Purpose District, thank Horst Althoff for his significant contributions to setting up the Special-Purpose District, his successful work in planning and developing its territory as well as strengthening inter-municipal cooperation between the cities of Heidelberg and Leimen.
